At Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital, we believe in amazing

We believe in constant improvement and innovation. That’s why we have implemented a long-term master plan which will create a unique experience for the women and children of Acadiana.

Campus Expansion

As the only regional campus dedicated entirely to the unique needs of both women and children, it is our goal to provide complete care across the entirety of our campus. That means from the examination room to the emergency room and even the delivery room, we’re working to provide you the attention and care you deserve.

It’s an ambitious plan, but we don’t plan on stopping short when it comes to delivering what the women and children of Acadiana deserve.

As a Catholic ministry, the focus of our mission is to serve our community by caring for your physical (as well as spiritual) well-being. In order to better serve these needs, construction of a new chapel is included in the Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital renovation plans. The chapel will be a sanctuary for those would like to rejoice in the birth of a newborn, seek comfort after an alarming diagnosis or to simply provide a place for those looking to pray in peace.

Daily Mass will also be conducted in the chapel.

Giving birth gives our entire campus a reason to celebrate here at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital, so we make it our mission to create an atmosphere of love and support from pregnancy all the way to parenthood. One of the ways we accomplish this is through our “Pregnancy Navigator”, the only one in Acadiana. This navigator guides expecting mothers through the many decisions that come with delivering a child, helping mothers to develop a pregnancy plan and making sure no detail is left out.

Our constant focus is enhancing the miracle of birth for our patients.

Children deserve care from physicians who are highly trained and experienced in treating that age group. At Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s, we have almost 100 pediatricians and 20 sub-specialists ready to evaluate and treat the children of Acadiana. We have the only “Pediatric Level” ICU, Level 3 Surgical NICU and Pediatric Emergency Room staffed 24/7 in our region.

We also the resources of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health, a collaborative, coordinated and child-focused statewide health network that provides patients with more access to physicians and providers specifically trained for children.

We are committed to expanding the range of cutting-edge healthcare options available to the women of Acadiana. Recent advances include the addition of SmartCurve, an evolutionary 3D technology that is clinically proven to be more comfortable and accurate than a standard mammogram. We’ve also assembled the “Fab Five”, five female specialists to guide, treat and encourage breast cancer patients through their medical journey. Plans for Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s include developing the first critical care unit specifically for women with highly trained staff, technology and care focused on their unique needs.

Healing Garden

Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s is committed to advancing the healing process for patients and their families through innovation. That’s why we’re breathing life into a new, dedicated space designed specifically for parents and their children to connect with nature and each other while still on hospital grounds.

As the parent of a patient, one of your goals is to help your child cope with being in the hospital. From helping them to prepare for their procedures to teaching them how to handle their new illnesses, you’re there to provide a sense of normalcy while your child is in the hospital.

The Healing Garden at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s is here to provide you with that same sense of normalcy. Time can feel like it’s slipping away within the four walls of a hospital room, so the Healing Garden is a chance for parents and family members to hit the “reset” button by heading outdoors.

Whether it’s sitting on a park bench enjoying a cup of coffee, taking a walk barefoot in the grass, or simply sitting a table to read a book, the Healing Garden wants to offer a place where you can take a break to focus on your own mental and physical well-being…because self-care is just as important as the care we provide to your loved ones.

The Healing Garden is also a place of respite for the patient. It isn’t normal for a child to be confined to a bed or room all day. The Healing Garden allows kids the chance to take a break from being in a hospital room and gives them the opportunity to be a kid again. By breaking up the monotony and routine of a hospital stay, this makes it easier for both children and their parents to cope with being in the hospital.

A permanent place for patients for years to come, providing the opportunity for kids to play also helps their fundamental development and growth. Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s is focused on healing the body and soul…what better way than to lift one’s spirits by heading outdoors and enjoying time with the one’s you love.

Family Suite

At Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s, we don’t just invest in new technologies and innovations. We believe that you are an investment that is just as important. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Ronald McDonald Charities to provide family rooms for those who may be staying at our hospital for a longer period of time than expected.

Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s provides services to all of Acadiana. Often times, patients and their families are visiting our facilities from rural and/or remote parts of our region. That is why our new Ronald McDonald Family Rooms will provide a place for families to recharge, eat, clean up, or rest while their loved ones are receiving treatment or care. We want to provide you a sense of home while you’re away from home, even if it means an overnight stay.

Only a few steps away, the Ronald McDonald Family Room provides families quick access to their children during these times of hospitalization. These private rooms are equipped with kitchen and bathroom areas and are located on the first floor so that parents and family members will be able to easily access their loved ones.

The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms will have access to a “common area”. This communal space comes equipped with a TV, gaming systems and more. This provides an “internal” healing space for family members to unwind, mirroring what’s provided just outside in our Healing Garden. Whether it’s access to the internet or simply grabbing something to read, the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms aim to strengthen these familial bonds by providing a place of comfort to those seeking it.

The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms will also have access to our Healing Garden. An innovative new way of healing both patients and their families, the Healing Garden at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s will allow those visiting our hospital to exit the confines of the hospital walls and enjoy time with one another outside, all while remaining on the hospital grounds.
